A Lake City author who is accused of stealing artwork and possibly plagiarizing for his book, Bolita Sam, says he is “under the bus” if the case goes to court.  Joe Bullard was speaking on North Florida Today.  He takes full responsibility for his printer using an example of what he wanted to use for his cover, rather than a photo he chose.  The “example” is a piece of art from State of Florida vs. Ruby McCollum, which was written by Dr. C Arthur Ellis Jr., PhD. A Lake City woman is in jail for allegedly making false 911 calls twice in one night.  According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, both times several fire units, ambulances and law enforcement vehicles responded under emergency conditions for no reason.  Allison Woods was arguing with her husband because he would not give her more pills that she was not prescribed.  Woods told deputies her husband struck her with a knife, (more)

A Lake City bar employee was arrested at work for allegedly selling alcohol to a minor.  According to the Lake City Police Department, Christeen Deatherage of Lake City did not ask a minor for identification at the Rock Star Lounge.  She told an officer as he was walking her to his patrol car Thursday that she had “about a joint’s worth” of marijuana in her purse.  (more)

A Lake City mother is in jail for allegedly trying to stab her daughter with a knife.  According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded Friday to a home on Okinawa Street and spoke with the victim, who said her mother was very intoxicated.  She said her mother became angry with her when she would not give her money.  Scippio is accused of grabbing a knife from (more)

A Lake City woman is in jail for allegedly stabbing a man while he was walking down the street.  According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office an officer followed up on aggravated battery that happened August 27, visiting the victim at the Lake Shore Hospital.  The victim was being treated for a stab wound to his upper torso area.  He was initially unwilling to identify his attacker but eventually said Tanjanika Rice stabbed him.  (more)

On Tuesday, September 7, 2010, four men were arrested by the Columbia County Sheriff’s
Office for burglary and grand theft.  In response to several recycling center burglaries, Detectives and Deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office conducted a coordinated surveillance operation of the local metal recycling centers. In the early morning hours of Sept 7, 2010, Detectives observed the four suspects commit a burglary to the Recycling Center, located at 2992 S.E. Washington St., Lake City, FL. Three of the suspects were observed removing copper wire from the business and throwing it over a fence at the business. (more)
